Getting My Second Wind

Every ache, scrape, bump, scratch, or bruise and I think to myself: Is my foe
making a return visit?
Like a gracious host, I put the house in order; I dust, sweep,  mop,  cook and get the extra room ready.
I remember the last time you visited; you were an unkind guest; you ravaged my home, leaving it bare, empty and cold.
But, I won't deny you, I actually welcome your visit, if you dare come back.
I've repaired my home and for 16 years, I went about every room with wisdom and love, hope and courage, at times through tears and pain, and I cleaned up after your mess!
I've waited for your return.................

My name is Gwendolyn Jenkins, and I am a cancer survivor! And a Berkeley College student.
